I installed 3 rigid sun tunnels in my mid century modern house. One in the walk-in closet and two in the master bathroom. We don't turn the lights on in the house till the sun sets. I highly recommend.

I have had two of the skylights installed in my den but after a couple of years I noticed lots of dead insects laying on the diffuser. Apparently they are not sealed well enough and small insects get in them and eventually die on the diffuser. Very unsightly!The installation manual does not show how to remove the diffuser so I can clean it. Please give me some guidance.

The inside (reflective) parts of the tube have imperfections that look like a snail has been crawling around. The ceiling trim is clear showing the screw heads of the ceiling bracket. Had to leave the cardboard protector on just to hide the screw heads.

Hardest part of the install was just making sure everything was lined up correctly sticking to the old adage of measure twice, cut once. I had some trouble getting the diffuser apart. Other hard part was after sticking on the fuzzy air seal strip on the dome getting that put back together. Final results are great. It looks nice and brings in a lot of light. The light is surprisingly white, well it is daylight after all.

I specified a solar tube style skylight to be added to my main bathroom which has no natural light (no window) and was always dark until a light was turned on. This 10" Velux is amazingly bright on sunny days and does well on overcast days. This photo is from an overcast day and still lights the room. It also does not collect moisture when showering but I do have an exhaust fan with light but the mirror will fog even with the fan on.

I was a little skeptical when our roofer suggested it but OmG , it saved money in the long run. Almost never having to turn lights on walking down long hall, and all the natural light was amazing. Ended up adding three total and the laundry one was my favorite. If your adding a new roof, they’re a must. Thank you.

Nice quality for the money. Had two of these installed when we had our tile roof replaced. Was pretty straightforward install, but had to buy additional tubing for one area. Would buy these again.
Too short, lens effect, go flexible

The included tunnel is nowhere near the advertised 4 feet, which means cutting extensions, plus all the taping, clips, alignment, screws, etc. Just get the flexible variety. The rigid tubes also have lensing effect which makes ray patterns on the diffuser, as shown in other photos. The flexible tubes diffuse light better and are longer, cheaper, and simpler to install, at the expense of maybe durability and brightness which are probably marginal in most applications.
Rechargeable batteries not Impressive

We had two rigid Velux sun tunnels installed in February. The interior work took a couple more months and the batteries were installed in one sun tunnel in May and the second sun tunnel in late October. The sun tunnels provided great light during the evening but the batteries in both sun tunnels failed by mid November. Very unsatisfied with this. The ceiling is 14’ high and having to change out with new batteries so soon is not what we expected.
Shorter than advertised

Advertised tunnel length 48”, actual tunnel material length 47” not including required 1” overlap between sections, or 4” flashing inset. From flashing seal to interior surface you have 42”, not 48”. Project on hold while I wait for delivery on aluminum extension.
